Basic knowledge

The Rubik's Cube was created in 1974 by Ernő Rubik, a Hungarian sculptor and architecture professor. Then, in 1977, the first magic cube was sold in a Budapest toy store. It was later rebranded as the Rubik's Cube and released worldwide. In 1982, the first World Championship in speedcubing was held in Budapest. 
Did you know: the world record for the fastest solve is 3.05 seconds, set by Xuanyi Geng.

7 steps to solve a rubik's cube

1st step: make a daisy & cross

if the white edge's direction opposite (twisted), than do this: R 
if the white edge is in the bottom layer, and not facing you, than repeat the algorithm twice.

if the white edge that you need to put in is towards you like this in the picture, but if the white edge is in the bottom layer, than do this: F U L

cross: keep doing U until you find the white edge's color match to the other centers color, then do F2

set the cube in a direction where back and right edge is in the right position

6th step: solve the position of the top corners
 case 1: start with a corner that is in the right position, than put the corner to the right side of the cube and start

7th step: solve the cube
case 1 (yellow corner: facing right)

turn the down layer until you find the yellow corner and do the different algorithm in each case
